Kyle Warren verzorgt 6 maart a.s. de bandrepetitie
Op dinsdag 6 maart komt Kyle Warren bij ons een bandrepetitie verzorgen.
Hieronder een biografie van Kyle:
World Champion piper Kyle Warren is a member of the 2011 ‘Grand Slam’ Champions Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band and has recently released his debut album 'Wanted'.
Kyle is also a member of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and has toured extensively in Europe, Asia, Australasia and North America performing to thousands of people.
In 2010 Kyle was a finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year and has recently graduated with First Class Honours from the Scottish Music - Piping Degree at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama
As well as signing to KRL records to release his first album 2010 saw the release of ‘Tunez’, a book of 50 of his own compositions - many of which are featured on his album and also performed by some of the worlds leading pipe bands.
Kyle’s pipe band career saw him play an integral part in progressing Lomond and Clyde Pipe Band from Grade 4B to Grade 2 in five years. Whilst Pipe Major of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland he performed with some of the biggest names in traditional music such as Carlos Nunez, Brian McNeill and Donald Shaw. Kyle won a Danny Kyle Award with TNT - "The New Tradition" at the International Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow; the Breton Championships with Bagad Cap Caval at the Lorient Festival in France, and competed with the world famous Grade 1 Strathclyde Police Pipe Band before joining Field Marshal Montgomery.

Nieuwe graad 4 set
De muzikale leiding heeft besloten om met een nieuwe graad 4 set te beginnen. Voorheen werden bij ons tijdens de competities altijd 4/4 marches gespeeld, maar nu zijn het 2/4 marches (4 twee delige tunes) geworden.
Hiermee wordt ingespeeld op de regels van de RSPBA (Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association). Voor de major competities is het nl verplicht om 2/4 tunes de z.g, MAP tunes, te spelen voor de kwalificaties van de bands.

- 72 nd's Farewell to Aberdeen
- Campbell's Farewell Red Castle

Nieuw lid
Namens Bestuur en leden heten we Erica Gankema-Sterken welkom als nieuw lid bij de band. Erica bespeelt de tenor drum en heeft haar sporen als tenor drummer ruimschoots verdiend.

Talent?
Gisteravond 11 januari hadden Petra de Boer en Gerald Schröer hun eerste practice-chanterles.
Als instructeur was ik erg verbaasd en content over hoe snel en enthousiast zij dit oppikten. Well done.

Wederom 3 nieuwe leden
De band heet opnieuw 3 nieuwe leden welkom
Petra de Boer uit Drachten;
Gerald Schröer uit Hardenberg en
Relf Brinkman uit Assen
Petra en Gerald beginnen volgende week woensdag met hun eerste lessen en Relf heeft vanavond zijn eerste les gehad bij Desie thuis en zij was uitermate tevreden.
Wij wensen ze veel succes en plezier bij de band.
